Yawbrakes

20 years ago, SIME brakes was the first company to launch a hydraulic applied caliper on YAW drive fitted with removable pads locating stop devices for YAW drives applications.

The FCH range of products; no one could imagine that a brake manufacturer could invent something new about the yaw brakes.
Once more, SIME brakes have shown they are pioneers of the braking systems in wind turbines by inventing a revolutionary concept with the new FCH calipers range. With its unique patented linings design® the FCH range offers fundamental advantages.

Last but not least is the maintenance of the FCH range, which can now be maintained on site WITHOUT removing the calipers from the bracket, representing huge money saving in labor costs and electricity production output.

Braking applications on yaw drives are always very tight because the number of operations are often higher compared to other braking applications on wind turbines. That is why SIME is using unique test facilities which can recreate the movements as well as the vibrations and stresses that the real equipment will undergo on sites.

SIME brakes is:

  • Exclusive linings patented design ®
  • Especially design and developed for multi megawatt wind turbines
  • Up to 630.000N clamping force
  • Easy adjustment of the pads locating stop devices to prevent any tangential movement Increase seals life time
  • Easy lining pads replacement without dismounting the caliper body from the bracket save maintenance cost, especially for off-shore applications, Yaw applications, positive and negative engagement.
